| | USI HOSTS WINNER OF A TURING AWARD , THE "NOBEL PRIZE" OF COMPUTER SCIENCE Joseph Sifakis will open the 2010 edition of FMCAD This is the first time that the Formal Methods in Computer Aided Design (FMCAD) conference, the premier conference on the theory and applications of formal (mathematical) analysis in computer-aided
design and verification, has taken place outside of the US. The 2010 edition is co-chaired by Asst. Prof. Natasha Sharygina and will run from October 20th to 23rd at the USI Faculty of Informatics. Sifakis, winner of the 2007 Turing Award, a recognition paramount to the Nobel in the field of informatics, will deliver his speech the morning of October 21st. novel will be presented Wednesday, October 20th at 08:00pm. The film is in Italian with English subtitles.
- The "Gender in organizations" seminar will take place Friday, October 22nd at 2pm (classroom A14, Lugano Campus). The seminar is organized by the Gender service and features Dr. Barbara Poggio. She will explain multiple perspectives on the topic and critically reflect upon the asymmetries between women and men in workplace and institutional contexts.

Interesting fact: recently inaugurated, a Siena public park
features the first interactive urban design in Italy, allowing visitors to log onto the web for free with just the touch of a hand. The project is called, “Wi-Roni”, and Dr. Elisa Rubegni, Post-doc research assistant at TEC-Lab, contributed to its realisation. | |
