Si è spento venerdì il professor Luigi Dadda

Nato nel 1923, fu tra i pionieri che nel 1954 portarono in Europa il primo calcolatore. Storico rettore del Politecnico di Milano, la sua vicenda personale è stata letteralmente quella del progresso tecnologico del XX secolo, dai primordi dell'informatica al supercalcolo. Il prof. Dadda è arrivato all'USI nel 1996: è stato entusiasta fondatore di ALaRI e cofondatore della Facoltà di scienze informatiche.

È uscito SOA with REST

In questo testo, pubblicato dall'autorevole editore Prentice Hall, Cesare Pautasso, professore assistente alla Facoltà di scienze informatiche, e i suoi co-autori spiegano come riconciliare due scuole di pensiero nel mondo dei grandi sistemi software aziendali per arrivare ad applicare nel modo giusto le tecnologie del web (REST) nel campo delle architetture orientate ai servizi (SOA).

Sabato 27 ottobre si è chiusa la quinta edizione

Il Presidente dell'USI, prof. Piero Martinoli, e il direttore del MIC, prof. Edo Poglia, hanno assistito alla presentazione dei progetti finali e consegnato il diploma ai 20 professionisti di 16 diverse nazionalità che hanno concluso il programma, supportato dalla Direzione dello sviluppo e della cooperazione e dedicato a chi mira ad arricchire il proprio profilo con competenze interculturali di alto livello.

Riservato ai laureati, l'evento inaugura il nuovo ciclo di visite alle aziende organizzato dal Servizio alumni. L'appuntamento è per oggi, lunedì 29 ottobre, a partire dalle 18.30: dopo una breve descrizione dell'edificio (Via Canova 6, Lugano), si entrerà ad ammirare le installazioni di Daniel Buren, Robert Bary, John Armleder e Liam Gillick. Seguirà un aperitivo all'insegna del networking.

Professor Luigi Dadda passed away on Friday

Born in 1923, he was a true pioneer in mathematical sciences who introduced in Europe the first electronic calculating machine. Historical Rector of the Politecnico di Milano, his personal history had been market by the progress of the XX century: from the dawn of informatics to supercomputing. Founder of ALaRI and co-founder of the Faculty of Informatics, Professor Dadda landed at USI in 1996.

Graduation Ceremony held on Saturday, 27 October

USI's President Professor Piero Martinoli and MIC's Director Professor Edo Poglia attended the presentation of the final projects and assigned the diplomas to 20 professionals hailing from 16 different countries, who attended the programme supported by the Swiss Agency for Developement and Cooperation. The Master is dedicated to those who aim to enrich their resume with high level intercultural expertise.

Reserved to graduates, the event opens the new series of company visits oraganised by the Alumni Service. The event is scheduled for today, Monday, 29 October from 6.30pm.
