ITALIAN STUDIES | | Book without Words, a performance by Mime Carlos Martínez Monday, 19 March at 8.30pm the Teatro Foce will host the performance Books without Words by mime Carlos Martìnez. It's the fourth show from the series Per voce sola: five artistic and literary performances organized by ISI and
the Dicastero Giovani ed Eventi of Lugano. Martínez is world renown for his incredible facial and hand expressiveness, bringing different characters to life throughout his show. The artist will hold a meet and greet session right after the show, and a workshop the day after, on Tuesday 20 March. The first Two Floors of the LAB will host the new PhD Students This week the study workspaces reserved to master students will be moved from the LAB to the library's 3rd floor. In particular, access to the LAB's 1st and 2nd floor will be revoked starting from Thursday, March 15, from 8am. The library's 3rd floor will be accessible from Tuesday, 20 March at 10am. The new area can be
accessed day and night from the side doors with the use of the badge. In the future the LAB will be turned into a space dedicated to the new PhD students: 1st floor for Economics and Communicatios, 2nd floor for
Informatics. | | INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH IN BIOMEDICINE (IRB) | | IRB's Discovery on Migration Mechanism of Inflammatory Cells Published on the Journal of Experimental Medicine The study conducted under the guidance of the research team led by MD Mariagrazia Uguccioni, analysed the mechanism, unknown up until now, in which a nuclear protein HMGB1 promotes cell migration. The discovery could be helpful during the first stages of tissue damage (ischemia and trauma), and for chronic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, that is in situations in which inflammatory cell recruitment is induced by HMGB1. The study, carried out in cooperation with other european institutes, was conducted thanks to funding of the European Union and the Swiss National Science Foundation. |
