More information. | | OPPORTUNITIES – INSTITUTE OF ITALIAN STUDIES | | A Talk with Pianist Edna Stern On Friday 2 December the pianist Edna Stern will perform "Memories of Italy", a concert from the series "Per voce sola". After her first successful appearance, the artist makes her comeback in full Italian style revisiting italian history through her music. A brief seminar hosted by Prof. Carlo Ossola, on Franz Liszt and Francesco Petrarca, will be held on the day of the concert, from 2.30pm at Teatro Foce in Lugano. On this occasion the pianist will hold a meeting open to the public and introduce her evening performance which will take place in the theater at 8.30pm. More information on the concert. | | AWARDS | | Fritz Kutter Award 2011 conferred on Alessandra Gorla The Fritz Kutter Award is a prestigious prize instituted by the Kutter Foundation of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich for the best PhD thesis
characterized by industrial applications. This year the prize has been conferred on Dr. Alessandra Gorla for her thesis on Automatic Workarounds: Exploiting the Intrinsic Redundancy of Software Systems. Alessandra Gorla conducted her research at the Faculty of Informatics, under the supervision of Professors Mauro Pezzé and Antonio Carzaniga. | | ROUND TABLE | | The Job Market in Ticino: Changes and Opportunities Organized by USI Alumni Service in cooperation with HR Ticino and USI Alumni Association, the round table, will be held on Wednesday 30 November at 6pm in Room A11 of Lugano Campus. The meeting, featuring Michele Arnaboldi, Francesco Allievi, Federica Corso Talento and Enrico Sassi, is part of the series of six yearly public lectures promoted by the research project PNR65 of the Swiss National Science Foundation conducted by Professor and Architect Michele Arnaboldi. A series that tackles issues such as quality of the public space and culture of the territory.
