Gli studenti sono 2822 - 52% uomini e 48% donne - e provengono per il 29% dal Ticino, il 7% da altri cantoni, il 46% dall’Italia e il 19% da altri Paesi. Il 29% studia architettura, il 32% economia, il 27% comunicazione, il 12% informatica e l'1% biomedicina.
Il Direttore dell'IRB e prof. della Facoltà di scienze biomediche dell'USI è stato insignito per i suoi contributi al progresso nelle scienze della vita, in particolare per le sue ricerche sul ruolo degli anticorpi monoclonali umani nella lotta contro la malaria.
Lunedì 18 dicembre (ore 14.00, aula 156) il consolato svizzero che si occupa di scienza e tecnologia si presenta: un evento da non perdere per chi fosse interessato ad incrementare i propri contatti internazionali in uno dei principali luoghi di innovazione al mondo.
La Presidente del Consiglio dell'USI è stata nominata dal Consiglio federale vicepresidente del consiglio dell'Ispettorato federale della sicurezza nucleare (IFSN), cioè l'organismo che sorveglia le centrali atomiche in Svizzera.
L'iniziativa dell'USI che favorisce visioni diverse della Svizzera italiana - giunta alla 7. edizione - approda dal 15 al 19 gennaio nel Giura, un cantone particolarmente sensibile a questioni identitarie e riguardanti le lingue minoritarie nel nostro paese.
Giovedì 21 dicembre alle 14.00 nell'aula magna del campus di Lugano, dopo l'introduzione del Decano Antonio Carzaniga, si terranno le presentazioni dei progetti semestrali da parte degli studenti. Seguirà un aperitivo.
Il primo incontro dell'associazione Rethinking Economics, organizzato con il Master in Economia e Politiche Internazionali, si terrà martedì 19 dicembre alle 12:30 in aula A22 (campus di Lugano) e vedrà protagonisti i proff. Filippini, Pica e Terzi.
I Webinar permettono di orientarsi tra la vasta scelta di Master dell'USI: ogni programma è presentato dal suo direttore accompagnato da uno studente, che forniscono un quadro completo degli studi e le relative prospettive professionali.
Il Direttore dell'ISI, intervistato da Carlo Silini, riflette sui legami di Manzoni con la Svizzera italiana e sulla forza della lingua letteraria manzoniana, così come sui primi 10 anni dalla fondazione dell’ISI e sulle novità – anche editoriali – del prossimo futuro.
Nel campus di Lugano c'è una nuova stazione di biciclette, molte delle quali elettriche. Il servizio è offerto dall'USI a tutta la comunità accademica: trovate condizioni e modalità di adesione sul sito del progetto "SostA, verso un ateneo sostenibile".
Anche nel 2017 l'USI si conferma generosa: nei campus di Lugano e Mendrisio si sono presentati ben 200 potenziali donatori e hanno potuto donare il sangue in 152. Grazie, anche a nome di tutti i pazienti che potranno beneficiare di questo gesto di altruismo.
All’ingresso nord del campus di Lugano trovate il Totem RSI multimediale e interattivo sviluppato per favorire la conoscenza della cultura italiana nel nostro Paese. Gli interessati possono consultarlo fino alla fine di gennaio.

The IRB Director and prof. at USI Faculty of Biomedical Sciences has been honoured for his work demonstrating scientific progress in the life sciences, especially for his research on the role of human monoclonal antibodies in the fight against malaria.
The Swiss consulate for science and technology will be presented on Monday, December 18 at 2pm in room 156. An event for those interested in expanding their international network of contacts in one of the world leading location for innovation.
The President of USI Council was appointed by the Federal Council, Vice Chair of the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI) Board, the body in charge of supervising the nuclear power plants in Switzerland.
The initiative promoted by USI to favour a different perspective of the Swiss Italian-speaking region is now in its 7th edition. It will land from January 15 to the 19 in Jura, a particularly sensitive Canton when it comes to identity and Swiss minority languages.
Dean Antonio Carzaniga will introduce the presentations of the semester projects carried out by the students of the Faculty of Informatics. Save the date for Thursday, December 21 at 2pm in the aula magna on Lugano campus. An apero will follow.
The first encounter of the association Rethinking Economics is organised with the Master in Economics and International Policies and it will be held on December 19 at 12:30pm in room A22 (Lugano campus) featuring Professors Filippini, Pica and Terzi.
The Webinars will give the attendees a general view on the structure of each USI Master: each programme will be introduced by its director accompanied by a student, so to give a complete overview of courses and career perspectives.
ISI Director, interviewed by Carlo Silini, talks about the ties between Manzoni and the Swiss Italian-speaking region, about the strength of his literary language, as well as the first 10 years of ISI and the news (also editorial) in the near future.

USI turns out to be pretty generous in 2017. 200 potential donors showed up on Lugano and Mendrisio campuses, and 152 were able to donate blood. Thank you also on behalf of the patients who will benefit from this gesture of altruism.
The multimedia and interactive RSI Totem can be found at the northern entrance of the Lugano campus. It has been developed to promote knowledge of the Italian culture in our country, and it can be accessed until the end of January.
