Civiltà, la rivista per l'Esposizione Universale di Roma del 1942

In occasione dell’inaugurazione di EXPO Milano 2015, l'Accademia di architettura dedica una delle sue Archiletture a Civiltà, la rivista che dal 1940 al 1942 ha avuto il compito di annunciare l'Esposizione Universale di Roma mai avvenuta. Lunedì 11 maggio alle ore 18.00 presso la Biblioteca dell'Accademia sarà ricostruita la ricchezza di questo particolare episodio editoriale e allo stesso tempo affrontata la problematicità e complessità del progetto che avrebbe dovuto celebrare il regime fascista nel suo momento di massimo sfarzo.

All’USI per discutere delle ultime frontiere della sicurezza dell’informazione

Si è tenuta sul campus di Lugano dal 2 al 5 maggio l'ottava International Conference on Information-Theoretic Security (ICITS), dedicata alla sicurezza dell'informazione e occasione di incontro per ricercatori nell'ambito della crittografia, della teoria dell'informazione e dell'informatica quantistica. ICITS 2015 ha visto la partecipazione di studiosi provenienti da università e centri di ricerca di tutto il mondo, da Cambridge a Stanford, dal Caltech al Technion fino all’ETH. L'organizzazione della conferenza è stata coordinata da Stefan Wolf, professore alla Facoltà di scienze informatiche dell'USI.

Un 2014 difficile per il turismo ticinese

È stato pubblicato nei giorni scorsi l'ultimo Rapporto trend dell'O-Tur, l'Osservatorio del Turismo dell'Istituto di ricerche economiche dell'USI, che fotografa annualmente l'andamento del mercato turistico ticinese. I risultati descrivono un anno difficile per il turismo del nostro Cantone, con un calo complessivo negli arrivi di 31.000 unità e 85.085 pernottamenti in meno. A pesare è stata soprattutto la meteo inclemente del periodo estivo, stagione fondamentale nell’offerta turistica della nostra regione.

"Qui e ora. Materia del vivere" approda ad EXPO 2015

Nell'ambito di Expo Milano 2015, il Ticino sarà presente con una serie di iniziative volte alla promozione del territorio e dedicate ad argomenti affini ai temi dell’esposizione universale. Tra di esse la conferenza di sabato 16 maggio alle ore 14.00 che vedrà come relatore Fabio Pusterla, professore all'Istituto di studi italiani dell'USI. Dal palco del Padiglione svizzero il poeta e critico letterario ticinese ricostruirà i principali valori simbolici associati al concetto di "pane", riproponendo uno dei temi del ciclo di incontri Qui e ora. Materia del vivere.

Avviata la 12° indagine sulla situazione professionale dei diplomati USI

L’edizione 2015 dell’USI Placement Survey prenderà in considerazione i laureati 2009 e 2013 (a 1 anno e a 5 anni dalla laurea). L’obiettivo è comprendere le modalità del loro inserimento nel mondo del lavoro: i risultati delle indagini sono presentati annualmente on line sul sito Alumni/careers. Il questionario è anonimo per garantire la riservatezza ai rispondenti e i dati sono presentati solo in forma aggregata.

La Nuvola Rosa: un'opportunità per studentesse 2.0

Per il terzo anno consecutivo, 1.500 ragazze italiane e straniere dai 17 ai 24 anni avranno la possibilità di approfondire il valore della formazione tecnico-scientifica e di conoscere le opportunità offerte dal digitale in una tre giorni di corsi, seminari, workshop, visite in EXPO Milano 2015, momenti di networking e incontri con le aziende. Bike to work 2015

Anche quest'anno i dipendenti dell'USI (professori, assistenti e collaboratori) hanno la possibilità di partecipare all'iniziativa nazionale volta a promuovere l'uso della bicicletta nel tragitto casa-lavoro. Per partecipare all'estrazione dei premi è sufficiente formare un team di quattro persone che si rechi al lavoro utilizzando la bicicletta per almeno una parte del tragitto durante tutto il mese di giugno. Per iscriversi inviare una email a aniello.de.lucia@usi.ch entro domenica 17 maggio indicando i nomi delle persone che formano il team e specificando un caposquadra.

"Civiltà", the publication of the 1942’s World Fair in Rome

To celebrate the opening of EXPO Milan 2015, the Academy of Architecture will dedicate one of its “archilectures” to Civiltà published from 1940 to 1942 with the aim of introducing the Universal Exhibition of Rome. An event that never took place. The encounter to be held on Monday, May 11th at 6pm at the Library of the Academy in Mendrisio will present not just the rich publishing adventure, but also the complexity and ambiguousness of a precise historical and cultural period in the background of what would have been the most glorious times of the fascist regime.

At USI to discuss about Information-Theoretic Security

The 8th International Conference on Information-Theoretic Security (ICITS) has been held in Lugano from May 2nd to May 5th. The encounter dedicated to all aspects of information-theoretic security, brought together the leading researchers in the areas of cryptography, information theory and quantum information. ICITS 2015 welcomed scholars hailing from universities and research centres worldwide, from Cambridge to Stanford, from Caltech to Technion to the ETH. The conference was organized by Stefan Wolf, professor at USI’s Faculty of Informatics.

A difficult 2014 for tourism in Ticino

The annual study that gives a picture of the market of tourism in Ticino carried out by O-Tur, the Observatory of Tourism of USI’s Institute of Economic Research, has been published. Results show that 2014 has been a tough year for our Canton. 31,000 less units of visitors and 85,085 less overnight stays compared to the previous year. To weigh in was the bad weather during the summer season, a crucial time for the touristic offer in our region.

"Here and Now. Matter of life" lands at EXPO 2015

During Expo Milan 2015, Ticino will be present with a series of initiatives dedicated to the Expo’s main topic with the aim of promoting our region. Among those, the lecture that will be held on Saturday, 16 May at 2pm by Fabio Pusterla, professor of USI’s Institute of Italian Studies. From the Swiss Pavilion stage, the poet from Ticino talks about the symbolism related to the image of “bread", presenting once again one of the themes of the lecture series Here and Now. Matter of life.

12th Placement Survey of USI’s graduates

The 2015 USI’s Placement Survey analyses the employment situation of 2009 and 2013 graduates (1 year and 5 years from graduation). The purpose is to understand graduates job placement and the results are published annually online at the website Alumni/careers. The survey is anonymous to ensure confidentiality, and only aggregate data are used.

The Pink Cloud: an opportunity for 2.0 female students

For the third year in a row, 1,500 young Italian and foreign women, aged 17 to 24, will be given the chance to explore the value of technical and scientific training and discover the opportunities offered by the digital world. Bike To Work 2015

Once again, this year, USI employees (professors, assistant and staff) have the opportunity to take part in the contest to promote the use of bicycles as a mean of transportation from home to work. To participate in the raffle, simply form a team of four people who will go to work by bicycle for at least a small part of the route during the month of June.
