Nuovi arrivi nella comunità accademica

L'USI questo semestre dà il benvenuto a tre nuovi professori: il prof. titolare Diébédo Francis Kéré all'Accademia di architettura (progettazione architettonica), il prof. ordinario Mario Padula alla Facoltà di scienze economiche (economia politica e macroeconomia applicata) e il prof. assistente Vittorio Limongelli alla Facoltà di scienze informatiche (biologia computazionale). Benvenuta anche a Monica Link, collaboratrice amministrativa del nuovo Istituto di medicina umana dell’USI e del Servizio Relazioni internazionali e mobilità. A tutti gli altri studenti, docenti, ricercatori e collaboratori, il nostro più caloroso ben ritrovati.

Efficienza energetica e risorse rinnovabili: strategie, strumenti ed opportunità per le PMI

Migliorare l’efficienza energetica rappresenta una grande opportunità con rilevante redditività per le piccole e medie imprese. Il pomeriggio di martedì 17 febbraio nell’aula magna del campus di Lugano, a partire dalle 13.30, si discuteranno le strategie e le opportunità per chi vuole investire in questo promettente settore e gli strumenti a servizio delle imprese che intendono ottimizzare i propri consumi. L'evento è gratuito e aperto a tutti gli interessati previa iscrizione.

Esposizione della fotografa svizzera Hélène Binet

L’esposizione, intitolata Dialoghi, presenta 81 fotografie di diverso formato, principalmente in bianco e nero, scattate in 25 anni di attività fotografica. Quattro Dialoghi mettono a fuoco aspetti specifici delle architetture di John Hejduk, Le Corbusier, Peter Zumthor e Zaha Hadid. La mostra, che sarà inaugurata giovedì 19 febbraio alle 19.00, potrà essere visitata fino al 12 aprile nella Galleria dell’Accademia (campus di Mendrisio).

Parte della Facoltà di scienze informatiche trasferita in Via Balestra

Sono cinque professori, insieme ad una trentina di ricercatori, ad essere stati trasferiti nella vicina sede provvisoria di via Balestra 22a e 22b a Lugano. Il motivo principale del trasferimento è la mancanza di spazio, dovuto alla continua crescita della facoltà; ad esso si aggiunge la necessità di unificare gruppi di ricerca dedicata in particolare all’ingegneria del software. Si tratta di un trasferimento provvisorio, in attesa della costruzione del nuovo campus a Lugano Viganello.
 

Riprendono le proiezioni introdotte e commentate da Marco Müller

La proiezione del film Russkij kovčeg (Arca russa) di Aleksandr Sokurov, pellicola dedicata al complesso dell’Ermitage di San Pietroburgo, sarà introdotta e commentata dal critico e produttore cinematografico Marco Müller . L'evento, gratuito e aperto a tutto il pubblico interessato, si terrà martedì 17 febbraio alle 18.30 nell’Aula magna del campus di Mendrisio e si inserisce nel corso di stili e tecniche del cinema tenuto dallo stesso Müller all'Accademia, che propone l’analisi di opere che contengono elementi architettonici fondamentali ai fini della loro comprensione.

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Resources: strategies, tools and opportunities for SMEs

Energy efficiency represents a great opportunity usually with high profitability for SMEs. On Tuesday, February 17th in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus from 1.30pm, an event will be held to tackle issues such as strategies and opportunities for anyone interested in investing in this promising field and the tools available to all enterprises that are looking into options to optimise energy consumption. The event is free and open to anyone interested. Registration is mandatory.

Exhibition of the Swiss Photographer Hélène Binet

The exhibition Dialogues portrays 81 photographs in different formats, mostly black and white, taken over 25 years of activity. The four Dialogues focus on specific architectural aspects of the works of John Hejduk, Le Corbusier, Peter Zumthor and Zaha Hadid. The exhibition will open on Thursday, February 19th at 7pm and will last until April 12th in the Academy Gallery (Mendrisio Campus).

Part of the Faculty of Informatics moved to Via Balestra

Five professors and about 30 researchers moved to the nearby temporary location of via Balestra 22a and 22b in Lugano due to lack of space inside the expanding faculty and the need to bring together all research groups devoted to software engineering. It is a temporary move while waiting for the construction of the new Campus in Lugano Viganello.

Film screenings with introduction and commentary by Marco Müller to resume

The screening of the film Russkij kovčeg (Russian Ark) by Aleksandr Sokurov about the Russian State Hermitage Museum will feature an introduction and commentary by movie critic Marco Müller. The encounter is free and open to the public and it will be held on Tuesday, February 17th at 6.30pm in the Aula Magna of Mendrisio Campus. The event is part of the course on styles and techniques of cinema held by Müller at the Academy. The course presents an analysis of works containing architectural elements fundamental to an understanding of how the cinematic space and the structure of the films of modernity are constructed.
