| | INAUGURAL LECTURE Leslie de Chernatony to deliver his inaugural lecture, "Growing Brand Value" Following the first lecture held by Prof. Patrick Gagliardini this past October, the second inaugural lecture of the 2010-11 academic year will be held by
Leslie de Chernatony, Full Professor of Brand Marketing within the Faculty of Communication Sciences. de Chernatony will deliver his lecture, entitled, "Growing Brand Value," on Thursday, December 9th at 5:30pm in the auditorium of the Lugano Campus. The scope of the inaugural lecture initiative is two-fold. First, it enables newly-appointed professors to present themselves and illustrate their discipline and field of research to the academic world and USI community. The inaugural lectures are also an occasion to forge scientific and human links by strengthening ties between the four Faculties, attracting the interests and favoring the exchange of perspectives between colleagues from diverse disciplines. | | APPLICATION DEVELOPED AT USI NIPPON-multimedia. Technology enables a new way to benefit from four great exhibits dedicated to Japanese culture Through February 20, 2011, Lugano hosts four major exhibitions and numerous initiatives all about the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun; for this occasion, Tec-Lab created
NIPPON-multimedia, an extraordinary technological support to facilitate the diffusion and understanding of the four exhibitions' themes. The application virtually eliminates technological barriers: PC's, iPhones, smart-phones, iPads, etc can all be used to access the online multi-media. NIPPON-multimedia will be presented to the public and the press on Tuesday, November 30th, at 12pm in the auditorium (Lugano Campus). More information. | | LITERATURE "Ecrire l'invisible" - public lecture by the Swiss author Pascal Janovjak The Swiss author Pascal Janovjak will hold a public lecture (in French) to present his new novel, L'Invisible (2009). The lecture is scheduled for Thursday, December 2 at 6:30pm in room 250 (Lugano Campus). The lecture-debate will be moderated by Regina Bollhalder, lecturer at the USI Institute of Linguistics and Semiotics
(ILS). The event, organized in
collaboration with Alliance française, will be followed by a refreshment. More information on the author and his novel. | | BSI MEETS THE FUTURE A prize and a convention for the development of new business in Ticino How does a business become innovative? And how do you turn an idea into
a business plan? How do you finance the business?
Is it possible to grow an innovative company in Ticino? These topics will be discussed at the first edition of BSI meets the future, which will be held Tuesday, November 30th at 5pm in the auditorium of the Lugano Campus. Launched by BSI in collaboration with the USI-SUPSI Startup Promotion Center and the Tecnopolo Lugano, the event aims to encourage the creation
and establishment of innovative businesses in Ticino. Additionally, to
mark the occasion, a prize will be awarded to the best entrepreneurial idea of 2010 in the Canton Ticino. | | - USImpresa Scholarships 2010. Last week, for the sixth consecutive year, students with the best grades in their first year of their masters' degrees were awarded scholarships.
