Nuova Facoltà di scienze biomediche all'USI: sì all'unanimità in commissione

Venerdì la speciale commissione parlamentare per l'esame del messaggio sulla nuova Facoltà di scienze biomediche (e il relativo Master in medicina), sotto la presidenza di Roberto Malacrida, ha sottoscritto all'unanimità dei presenti il rapporto commissionale dando il proprio via libera al progetto. Il messaggio dovrebbe quindi figurare nell’ordine del giorno della prossima seduta del Gran Consiglio ticinese prevista il 24-25 novembre.

Dopo la prima edizione assegnata al filosofo Giorgio Agamben, a ricoprire la Cattedra Borromini 2014-2015 dell’Accademia di architettura è stato invitato Salvatore Settis, storico dell’arte, antichista, archeologo e filologo di notorietà internazionale, ma anche intellettuale da sempre impegnato in importanti ruoli istituzionali e figura di riferimento nel dibattito pubblico sulle politiche culturali. Il ciclo di appuntamenti prenderà il via la prossima settimana, giovedì 20 novembre alle 19.30 nell'aula magna del campus di Mendrisio.

Mostra sull'attività didattica dell'Accademia di architettura

Giovedì 13 novembre alle 19.00 nella Galleria dell'Accademia (campus di Mendrisio) si inaugura MAD. '14, una panoramica sulla ricerca e le attività di insegnamento dell'Accademia di architettura durante l'anno accademico 2013-2014. Queste attività sono illustrate attraverso i lavori degli studenti, una testimonianza di grande ricchezza progettuale e comunicativa. La mostra resterà aperta fino al 20 dicembre.

Rilanciare le aziende in tempo di crisi con i Game Changers

Durante i periodi di stagnazione economica, fare “business as usual” non basta. Servono i cosiddetti “Game Changers”, persone in grado di creare nuove fonti di valore attraverso quella che Joseph Schumpeter chiamava la "distruzione creativa". Se ne parlerà sabato 22 novembre dalle 10:30 nell'aula A32 del campus di Lugano. Interverranno i prof. Gianluca Carnabuci, Rico Maggi e Erik Larsen. I posti sono limitati, è richiesta l'iscrizione.

Il rapporto osservatore – osservato

L’osservatore fa parte del sistema che osserva o è esterno ad esso? Se si vuole giungere a certe forme di conoscenza non solo nelle scienze antropologiche e sociali, ma anche in fisica, l'osservatore deve integrarsi nella sua osservazione. Infatti l'osservazione non è solo effettuazione di registrazioni percettive, ma è anche ricerca di senso. Sabato 15 novembre dalle 11.00 in auditorio (campus di Lugano) ne parleranno nel contesto di diverse discipline Carlo Rovelli, Maurizio Ferraris, Daniel Soutif, Giulio Paolini, Sean Snyder e Elena Volpato.

Grazie all'impegno di United Students, anche quest'anno un gruppo Movember all'USI

Movember è una nota campagna internazionale di sensibilizzazione che si tiene per tutto il mese e pone l’accento sulla salute maschile associandola al simbolo dei baffi. Come gesto concreto di adesione i partecipanti di sesso maschile ci “mettono la faccia” facendosi crescere i baffi per tutto novembre, impegnandosi parallelamente nella raccolta fondi per la ricerca sul cancro (in particolare su quello ai testicoli e alla prostata). Il gruppo USI-MOS, fondato dall'associazione studentesca United Students, è lieto di dare il benvenuto a tutti gli uomini e le donne della comunità accademica interessati a sostenere l'iniziativa.

A New Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at USI: a unanimous yes from the committee

The special parliamentary committee for the examination of the message on the new Faculty of Biomedical Sciences (and its related Master in Human medicine) held under the presidency of Roberto Malacrida, signed unanimously on Friday the commission report by giving the green light to the project. The message should therefore be included in the agenda of the next sitting of the Ticino’s Cantonal Parliament scheduled for November 24th and 25th.

The Theatre of Democracy: the European landscape among beauty, environment and human rights

Salvatore Settis has been appointed to the 2014-2015 Chair Borromini of the Academy of Architecture, following philosopher Giorgio Agamben. An art historian, classical scholar, archaeologist and world renowned philologist, Agamben is also an intellectual always busy in taking on important institutional roles, and a reference figure in the public debate on cultural policies. The lecture series will kick off next week, Thursday November 20th at 7.30pm in the Aula Magna of Mendrisio Campus.

The MAD.’14 opening will be held in the Academy Gallery on Mendrisio Campus on Thursday, November 13th at 7pm. The Relationship Between the Observer and the Observed

When observing something, is the observer an active part of the equation? To reach for deeper knowledge not only in anthropology and social sciences but also in physics, the observer must become part of the observation. Indeed the act of observing does not entail only recording perceptions but also making sense of them. To discuss the subject applied to the different disciplines an encounter will be held with Carlo Rovelli, Maurizio Ferraris, Daniel Soutif, Giulio Paolini, Sean Snyder and Elena Volpato on Saturday, November 15th from 11am in the Auditorium of Lugano Campus.

Again this Year an USI’s Movember Group Thanks to the Effort of United Students

Movember is a renowned international campaign held throughout November to raise awareness on men’s health issues by associating them with the mustache. All male participants show their commitment to the movement by letting their mustache grow during the whole month, and by raising funds for cancer research (especially testicular and prostate cancer). The group USI-MOS, created by the students association United Students is happy to welcome all men and women of the academic community interested in showing their support to the initiative.
