Riuso, restauro, architettura

Da diversi anni gli interessi di Bruno Reichlin, già professore di storia dell’architettura all’Accademia, sono orientati verso il riuso e il restauro. Ne sono esempio il progetto di restauro della Villa de Mandrot di Le Corbusier e P. Jeanneret in collaborazione con l’Ecole d’Architecture di Ginevra e quello dell’albergo e della Casa Anatta al Monte Verità con Gabriele Geronzi. I temi del riuso e del restauro saranno al centro della conferenza che Bruno Reichlin terrà giovedì 6 novembre alle 19.30 nell'aula magna del campus di Mendrisio.

Modelli dinamici e stocastici dei cambiamenti climatici e il loro impatto sull'economia

Il prof. Kenneth L. Judd è economista computazionale alla Stanford University e tra i suoi interessi di ricerca figura lo sviluppo di nuovi metodi per applicare il supercalcolo allo studio di complesse dinamiche economiche. Il prof. Judd terrà un seminario, ospite della Facoltà di scienze informatiche, giovedì 6 novembre alle 10.30 in aula A22 (campus di Lugano).

"Sapori di scienza" per scoprire i sensi del gusto e dell'olfatto. E se fossero i bambini a fare la spesa?

Uno scaffale imbandito di alimenti di vario genere, un bancone di frutta e verdura, un tavolo colmo di cibi e un carrello vuoto a disposizione dei bambini. Come lo riempirebbero? L’ideatorio, in collaborazione con l’Istituto scolastico della Città di Lugano, propone due nuovi laboratori dedicati a gusto e olfatto per capire ed esplorare il nostro “metterci a tavola”. I laboratori sono aperti alle scuole da domani fino al 13 febbraio all’ex-asilo di Castagnola.

Crash: il 1973 e la crisi della rappresentazione

I primi anni Settanta segnano una frattura nella storia dell'economia, che ha un impatto sulla percezione dello spazio e del tempo. La crisi della rappresentazione del valore come influenza la sfera delle culture visive? Partendo dal romanzo Crash di James Graham Ballard, la lezione di Philip Ursprung (professore di storia dell'arte e dell'architettura all'ETH Zürich) si sviluppa attraverso una serie di casi di studio dal campo delle arti e dell'architettura. L'appuntamento è per mercoledì 5 novembre alle 18.30 in aula C3.89, campus di Mendrisio.

Aperte le iscrizioni all'evento "Dall’idea all’impresa"

Martedì 2 dicembre dalle 17.00 al Palazzo dei Congressi di Lugano l'ERSL organizza un incontro, al quale parteciperanno anche l'USI e il CP Start-up USI-SUPSI, per far conoscere alcune istituzioni che nella regione sostengono gli imprenditori nel processo di sviluppo dell'idea fino alla sua realizzazione. Quattro i tavoli tematici ai quali i partecipanti avranno l'opportunità di sedersi per approfondire i singoli argomenti. L'evento si terrà in italiano, iscrizioni entro il 15 novembre.

Stati fragili: implicazioni per la cooperazione allo sviluppo

Il simposio organizzato dalla FOSIT, in collaborazione con il Master of Advanced Studies in Intercultural Communication dell'USI, si terrà sabato 15 novembre dalle 9.45 in aula A11 (campus di Lugano). È richiesta l'iscrizione entro l'8 novembre: l'ingresso alla tavola rotonda del mattino è libero, mentre la partecipazione agli atelier tematici del pomeriggio è a pagamento (50 CHF, ridotto a 20 CHF per gli studenti, compreso il pranzo all'USI).

Al via il ciclo di incontri di approfondimento "Reading dance LIS"

Un progetto fatto di presentazioni, visioni e incontri a cura di Stefano Tomassini, docente dell’Istituto di studi italiani dell’USI. Il primo appuntamento si terrà venerdì 7 novembre alle 18.00 nell'aula magna del campus di Lugano, con l'incontro La tradizione del moderno nella danza contemporanea americana (da Ted Shawn a Mark Morris). In occasione dello spettacolo di danza che la compagnia americana di Mark Morris terrà in stagione a Lugano, Tomassini presenterà al pubblico le linee storiche e teoriche che sono alla base del lavoro del coreografo americano.

Programmi di mobilità: presentazione delle università partner dell’USI

Lunedì prossimo 10 novembre, dalle 12.30 nel foyer dell'aula magna del campus di Lugano, si terrà un momento informativo dedicato agli studenti interessati a partire nell'ambito di uno dei programmi di scambio proposti dall'USI. In una sorta di fiera internazionale le università partner saranno rappresentate dagli studenti ospiti all'USI o da studenti USI che in passato hanno effettuato un soggiorno lì. Si potranno porre domande specifiche e raccogliere materiale informativo.

Reuse, Restoration, Architecture

For several years the interests of Bruno Reichlin, already professor of history of architecture at the Academy, has focused on reuse and restoration. Examples are the restoration project of Le Corbusier and P. A Dynamic Stochastic Model of Climate Change and its Impact on the Economy

Prof. Kenneth L. Judd is a computational economist at Stanford University. Among many other interests, his research currently focuses on developing numerical methods for applications in economics. Prof. Judd will hold a seminar hosted by the Faculty of Informatics on Thursday, 6 November at 10.30am in room A22 (Lugano Campus).

"Flavours of Science" to Discover the Sense of Taste and Smell. What if our grocery shopping was left up to our kids?

A shelf packed with different foods, a stand of fruits and vegetables, a table full of food and an empty cart for the children to use. How would they fill it up? The Ideatorio in cooperation with the School Institute of the city of Lugano holds two new laboratories dedicated to the sense of taste and smell, to understand and explore our eating habits. The laboratories are open to schools starting tomorrow and until February 13 in Castagnola (former Kindergarten).

Registration Open to the Event “From an Idea, to Business”

ERSL will hold a meeting that will also feature USI and CP Start-up USI SUPSI, on Tuesday, December 2 at 5pm at the Lugano’s Convention Centre. The encounter will be held to raise awareness of some of the local institutions that operate in support of entrepreneurs from their business development phase to its implementation. Four will be the thematic discussions in which participants will be able to join in. The event will be held in Italian and registration’s deadline is on November 15.

The symposium organised by FOSIT in cooperation with USI’s Master of Advanced Studies in Intercultural Communication will be held on November 15 at 9.45am in room A11 (Lugano Campus). Registration is mandatory by November 8: entrance for Monday morning’s round table is free. Admission to the afternoon’s themed workshop is 50CHF (20CHF for students) lunch included.

The Series of Encounters "Reading dance LIS" Gets Underway

A project of presentations, screenings and encounters thought by Stefano Tomassini, lecturer at the USI’s Institute of Italian Studies. The first encounter will be held on Friday, 7 November at 6pm in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus, with the lecture Modern Tradition in Contemporary American Dance (from Ted Shawn to Mark Morris). On the occasion of the dance performance by the american Mark Morris dance company to be held in Lugano, Tomassini will introduce to the public the historical and theoretical lines at the bottom of the work on the American choreographer.

Mobility Programmes: an introduction to USI’s partner universities

On Monday, November 10 at 12.30pm in the foyer of the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus, an encounter to gather information will be held for all students interested in one of USI’s exchange programmes. Like some kind of international fair, the partner universities will be represented by students hosted by USI or by USI’s students who were hosted by the partner university. A chance for asking specific questions or gather information material.
