Restoration, Architecture For several years the interests of Bruno Reichlin, already professor of
history of architecture at the Academy, has focused on reuse and restoration. Examples are the restoration project of Le Corbusier and P. Jeanneret’s Villa de Mandrot, in cooperation with the Ecole d’Architecture of Geneva, and the one of the Hotel and House Anatta at Monte Verità with Gabriele Geronzi. The themes of reuse and restoration will be the focus of the conference that Bruno Reichlin will hold on Thursday, 6 November at 7.30pm in the Aula Magna of Mendrisio Campus. >>> | | APPLICATIONS OF HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING TO ECONOMICS | | A Dynamic Stochastic Model of Climate Change and its Impact on the Economy Prof. Kenneth L. Judd is a computational economist at Stanford University. Among many other interests, his research currently focuses on developing numerical methods for applications in economics. DIALOGUE BETWEEN SCIENCE AND SOCIETY | | "Flavours of Science" to Discover the Sense of Taste and Smell. What if our grocery shopping was left up to our kids? A shelf packed with different foods, a stand of fruits and vegetables, a table full of food and an empty cart for the children to use. How would they fill it up? The Ideatorio in cooperation with the School Institute of the city of Lugano holds two new laboratories dedicated to the sense of taste and smell, to understand and explore our eating habits. The appointment is for Wednesday, November 5 at 6.30pm in room C3.89, Mendrisio Campus. >>> | | REGIONAL BODY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE LUGANO AREA (ERSL) | | Registration Open to the Event “From an Idea, to Business” ERSL will hold a meeting that will also feature USI and CP Start-up USI SUPSI, on Tuesday, December 2 at 5pm at the Lugano’s Convention Centre. The encounter will be held to raise awareness of some of the local institutions that operate in support of entrepreneurs from their business development phase to its implementation. Four will be the thematic discussions in which participants will be able to join in. Campus, with the lecture Modern Tradition in Contemporary American Dance (from Ted Shawn to Mark Morris). On the occasion of the dance performance by the american Mark Morris dance company to be held in Lugano, Tomassini will introduce to the public the historical and theoretical lines at the bottom of the work on the American choreographer. >>> | | INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND STUDY ABROAD OFFICE | | Mobility Programmes: an introduction to USI’s partner universities On Monday, November 10 at 12.30pm in the foyer of the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus, an encounter to gather information will be held for all students interested in one of USI’s exchange programmes. Like some kind of international fair, the partner universities will be represented by students hosted by USI or by USI’s students who were hosted by the partner university.
