| | PRIZE & EXHIBITION OPENING Architects under 50: Diébédo Francis Kéré wins the BSI Swiss Architectural Award Now in its second edition, the prize this year goes to Diébédo Francis Kéré for "the unique ability to create
buildings that, while reflecting the technical skills gained during his European education, are still deeply rooted in cultural tradition and the social fabric of his home country, Burkina Faso, thus the result of an intense involvement of the local communities.” The awarding of the prize will take place Thursday, November 18th, at 6.30pm (Aula magna, Palazzo Canavée, Mendrisio Campus). Kéré will hold a public lecture for the occasion. Additionally, the exhibition will be inaugurated with the work of 28 candidates and a special display of the winner's work. The exhibition may be visited until January 30, 2011. | | EXECUTIVE EDUCATION Graduation ceremony for 24 communications professionals The eleventh edition of MScom, which spanned the past 21 months, has seen the participation of communications professionals from major Swiss as well as international firms, such as Ritz-Carlton, Zurich Financial Services, SBB, BASF and the Swiss Armed Forces. NEW GAME USI’s Got Talent The new edition of the awards ceremony for USImpresa scholarships, granted to the best student from the second year of each two-year Master in an effort to promote and incentivize excellence of USI
students, will see an interesting new feature: a game, moderated by Prof. Lorenzo Cantoni. In the game, students who win the scholarships put themselves to the test before three human resource managers representing three major Ticino companies. Roberta Cattaneo (RSI), Michele Genovesi (Ginsana) and Alberto Oltolini (BSI) will simulate job interviews by posing questions. The candidates must respond in front of the audience; a jury will judge their responses, providing feedback and selecting the strongest contestant, who will win a trophy cup. This is not only a game, but also a great source of advice for future job interviews. The date is set for Tuesday, November 23, in the Lugano
Campus auditorium. | | - USI welcomes Michael Bronstein, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Computational Science, who arrived last week from the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion, Haifa).
