Nel corso della cerimonia di venerdì scorso il Presidente dell'USI prof. Piero Martinoli e il nuovo Decano della Facoltà di scienze informatiche prof. Michele Lanza hanno conferito 14 diplomi di Bachelor, 26 di Master biennale, 3 di Executive Master e 13 di dottorato. Volker Rommel (Head Business Applications di Interroll Management SA) ha tenuto la prolusione. Congratulazioni a tutti i neolaureati!

IDSIA Robotics Lab

Questo centro di ricerca USI-SUPSI, fondato nel 2007, è un laboratorio che applica diversi metodi di intelligenza artificiale a vari tipi di robot. Dalle 10.00 alle 16.00 di mercoledì 27 novembre sarà possibile visitare il laboratorio, che si trova a Manno, e vedere i robot che si muoveranno ed interagiranno con gli ospiti. L'evento fa parte della Settimana europea della robotica.

Giovedì 28 novembre all’IRB a Bellinzona si terrà il quinto meeting dell’Accademia Europea di Dermatologia e Venereologia (EADV) in Ticino, intitolato: EADV Dermatological Meeting in Ticino - From the Bench to the Clinic. Parteciperanno al dibattito ricercatori, medici ed esperti che discuteranno dei più recenti progressi raggiunti nel campo della dermatologia e venereologia.

Continua il viaggio nel Purgatorio di Dante

Mercoledì 27 novembre alle 18.00 in auditorio il prof. Corrado Bologna terrà il proprio intervento su Il ritorno di Beatrice, proponendo una scelta di passi tratti dai canti trenta e trentuno del Purgatorio di Dante Alighieri. Nei canti citati Dante si trova con Beatrice nel Paradiso terrestre, in cima alla montagna del Purgatorio, dove le anime che hanno compiuto l'espiazione si purificano prima di accedere al Paradiso.

Simposio sulla previdenza svizzera

Martedì 3 dicembre alle 17:30 nell'auditorio del campus di Lugano si tratteranno temi di grande attualità, considerato che la proprio la scorsa settimana il Consigliere federale Alain Berset ha messo in consultazione il progetto di riforma del sistema pensionistico svizzero. Ne discuteranno Jürg Brechbühl (direttore dell'Ufficio Federale delle Assicurazioni Sociali), Elsa Fornero (professore di Economia Politica all'Università di Torino ed ex Ministro del Lavoro e del Welfare in Italia) e Marzio Zappa (vicedirettore di Swiss Life). Vincenzo Galasso (direttore del CEPRA e professore di Economia Pubblica all'Università Bocconi) modererà la serata.

Sprint finale per sostenere il gruppo movember USI

Movember è una nota campagna internazionale di sensibilizzazione che si tiene per tutto il mese di novembre e pone l’accento sulla salute maschile associandola al simbolo dei baffi. Il gruppo movember USI conta ormai 68 membri ed ha raccolto circa 1650 CHF. È possibile donare online fino alla fine del mese oppure mercoledì 27 novembre durante la pausa pranzo, presso l'apposito stand di fronte alla mensa (campus di Lugano).

Linea Rossa è un programma della RSI che offre ai giovani tra i 18 e i 22 anni la possibilità di confrontarsi su temi d’attualità che spaziano dalla scuola alla politica, dall’economia alla moda. This research centre of USI-SUPSI was founded in 2007 and is dedicated to the application of artificial intelligence methods to various types of robots. On Wednesday, 27 November, from 10am to 4pm, it will be possible to visit the laboratory, which is located in Manno, and to see robots move around and interact with guests. The event is part of the EU Robotics week.

Dermatology and Venereology Experts from all over Europe at the IRB

On Thursday, 28 November, at the IRB in Bellinzona, the fifth meeting of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) will be held in Ticino, with the title EADV Dermatological Meeting in Ticino - From the Bench to the Clinic. Researchers, doctors and experts will participate in the debate and will discuss the most recent progress in the fields of dermatology and venereology.

Radio’s Revenge: also in the era of Internet everyone tunes in

How come the radio is not suffering from the World Wide Web’s competition? What are today’s new ways of doing radio to be “in tune” with the audience, be it very educated listeners, or be it teenagers? These are some of the issues that will be tackled during the panel discussion on Thursday, 28 November, at 6.30pm, in room A11 (Lugano Campus). The participants are Roberto Antonini, responsible for in-depth coverage of cultural themes at Rete Due, RSI, Alessandro Milan, presenter of @24Mattino on Radio 24, Il Sole 24 Ore, and Matteo Pelli, director of Radio3i, presenter of the morning show “Pane Tostato” (Toasted Bread).

The Journey through Dante's Purgatory continues

On Wednesday, 27 November, at 6pm, in the auditorium, Prof. Corrado Bologna will deliver his speech on Il ritorno di Beatrice (Beatrice's return), presenting a choice of passages from the cantos thirty and thirty-one of Dante Alighieri's Purgatory. In these cantos, Dante finds himself with Beatrice in the Earthly Paradise, on top of the Mountain of Purgatory, where the souls, after the act of expiation, will be purified and will then be admitted to Paradise.

Symposium on the Swiss Pension System

On Tuesday, 3 December, at 5.30pm, in the auditorium on Lugano Campus, currently very relevant issues will be tackled: in fact, just last week Federal Councillor Alain Berset put the project regarding a reform of the Swiss pension system under consultation. Jürg Brechbühl (Swiss Federal Social Insurance Office), Elsa Fornero (Professor of Political Economics at the University of Turin and former Italian Minister of Labour and Welfare) and Marzio Zappa (Vice Director of Swiss Life) will discuss these topics. Vincenzo Galasso (CEPRA director and Professor of Public Economics at the Bocconi University in Milan) will introduce and moderate the event.

Final Spurt to support USI's Movember Group

Movember is a famous international sensitisation campaign taking place during the entire month of November and focusing on men’s health that is associated with the symbol of the moustache. USI's Movember group has already reached 68 members and has collected around CHF 1650. Donation is possible online, until the end of the month, or on Wednesday, 27 November, during lunch break at a dedicated stand in front of the Mensa (Lugano Campus).

Linea Rossa invites to contribute to the Debate on today's Youth

Linea Rossa is a programme of RSI that gives young people between 18 and 22 years the possibility to discuss current themes. Topics reach from school to politics, from economy to fashion.
