| EXHIBITION ON OCCASION OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS BIRTH | | Photographic Exhibition on Robert Capa, one of the greatest War Reporters Thanks to his own reports, the Hungarian photographer Robert Capa (1913-1954) has born testimony to five different wars. The exhibition called Capa100 will
be inaugurated with a vernissage on Wednesday, 6 November, at 5pm, in the corridor of the red building (Lugano Campus). The initiative has emerged from a collaboration between the Hungarian embassy in Switzerland and Prof. Daniela Mondini of the Academy of Architecture who teaches a course in History of Photography in Lugano and who will briefly introduce the exhibition. >>> | | INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATION AND HEALTH (ICH) | | Rheumatoid Arthritis: presentation of the ONESELF project results The study, performed in collaboration with the Lega Ticinese for the fight against rheumatism (LTCR), has evaluated the disease’s impact on patients’ well-being and motivation. The patients were using a web site with information, support instruments and spaces for dialogue both with doctors and with other
people concerned by this chronic disease that strongly impacts daily life. Results of the project will be presented on Wednesday, 13 November, at 6.00pm in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus. Zlatina Kostova, a PhD student of the ICH who carried out the research, Prof. Schulz (ICH director) and Dr. Nicola Keller (LCTR President) will participate. >>> | | CTI ENTREPRENEURSHIP, CP START-UP AND AGIRE FOUNDATION | | A Workshop on the Art of Pitching What would you tell a potential investor to convince him of your business idea if you met him for only a few minutes? Jean-Pierre Vuilleumier, Managing Director of CTI Invest and coach of CTI Start-up, will illustrate the art of presenting one’s business idea in a
synthetic and efficient way. Some examples of start-ups hosted at the incubator of CP Start-up will be presented afterwards. The workshop will be held in English on Friday, 8 November, from 9am to noon in room 250, on Lugano Campus. November Students in the second year of a Master’s degree programme can from now on apply for the scholarships of 2013/2014, each worth CHF 4.000. The scholarships are offered by partner businesses of the USImpresa Network and reflect the companies’ and USI’s efforts to support excellent students. The scholarships are awarded according to merit. The award ceremony will be held on 9 December, at 6pm, in the Auditorium (Lugano Campus). >>> | | USI'S EUROPEAN JOURNALISM OBSERVATORY (EJO) AND GLOCALNEWS | | Being a Journalist for three Days thanks to "BlogLab" Varesenews will organize a laboratory on digital journalism for high school students and for students from an Italian university or from USI. The laboratory is called BlogLab and will take place in the context of Glocalnews, the digital journalism festival
that will be held in Varese from 14 to 17 November. Thanks to the collaboration with the EJO also USI students can register for the laboratory, in groups of four. These "micro editorial staffs" will have implement their own blog. >>> | | SENSITISATION AND FUND-RAISING FOR CANCER RESEARCH | | Also USI hosts a Movember Group Movember is a famous international sensitisation campaign taking place during the entire
month of November and focusing on men’s health that is associated with the symbol of the moustache. As an expression of adherence to the movement, male participants will let their moustache grow for the whole month. At the same time, they will seek to raise funds for cancer research (in particular testicular and prostate cancer). USI’s Movember
