Azioni locali per un impatto globale

La conferenza di mercoledì 23 ottobre porterà sul campus di Lugano esperti di aiuto umanitario delle più importanti agenzie e associazioni del mondo. Al seminario per professionisti seguirà, dalle 18:00 in auditorio, un evento pubblico dal titolo Azioni locali per un impatto globale. Interverranno l’ambasciatore Manuel Bessler (vicedirettore della DSC, delegato per l’aiuto umanitario e capo del Corpo Svizzero d’Aiuto Umanitario) e Cornelia M. Lenneberg (Regional Vice President for Middle East/Eastern Europe, World Vision International WVI). L’incontro si terrà in inglese con traduzione simultanea in italiano. >>>

Il ruolo fondamentale dell’educazione alla legalità

Venerdì 25 ottobre alle 18:30 nell’auditorio del campus di Lugano Gherardo Colombo parlerà, oltre che della sua esperienza quale esponente di spicco del pool Mani Pulite, delle difficoltà specifiche nella repressione della corruzione rispetto ad altri campi del diritto e dell’esigenza di incentivare la prevenzione del fenomeno nel quadro di una educazione alla legalità. La serata pubblica è proposta nel contesto del convegno Lotta alla corruzione in Svizzera e in Italia: quali lacune? che si terrà all'USI il 25 e 26 ottobre. >>>

I fantasmi della memoria nei paesi dell'Europa centrale e dell'Est

Adam Michnik, dissidente politico, storico, scrittore e docente universitario, nato nel 1946, è anche uno dei maggiori giornalisti del suo Paese e direttore del primo giornale indipendente polacco Gazeta Wyborcza, sin dalla sua fondazione nel 1989. Attivista per i diritti umani, è stato imprigionato a più riprese fra il 1965 e il 1986, trascorrendo in carcere 6 anni per la sua opposizione al regime comunista in Polonia. Terrà una conferenza pubblica giovedì 24 ottobre alle 19.30 nell'Aula magna del campus di Mendrisio (Palazzo Canavée). >>>

UXconference 2013: il futuro dell’Healthcare

Arrivata alla sua quinta edizione, la UXconference è la più importante conferenza svizzera sul tema User Experience, Business, Design. Sabato 26 ottobre dalle 9.00 nell’Aula magna del campus di Lugano le più autorevoli voci del design, dell'industria e della ricerca dischiuderanno le frontiere dell'Healthcare presentando e discutendo esperienze futuristiche che sono già realtà. >>>

Inaugurazione dell'esposizione Comprensorio Fiume Ticino Sud

L’esposizione raccoglie i risultati dell’omonimo progetto di ricerca del fondo nazionale PNR 65 diretto dal prof. Michele Arnaboldi dell’Accademia
di architettura, con la collaborazione del Dipartimento del territorio. La mostra evidenzia le potenzialità del comprensorio e indica possibili strategie di progetto a differenti scale per lo spazio pubblico. In occasione dell’inaugurazione - che si terrà venerdì 25 ottobre alle 17.30 (Edificio Agricola Ticinese, Piazzale Stazione, Giubiasco) - sarà presentato il secondo volume Atlante Città Ticino 2. Comprensorio Fiume Ticino Sud, a cura di Michele Arnaboldi, pubblicato da Mendrisio Academy Press. La mostra resterà aperta fino al 24 novembre. >>>

Due studenti danno vita ad una manifestazione di street art che mette al centro l’arte della memoria

Sabato 26 e domenica 27 ottobre un gruppo di street artist lavorerà su commissione all’interno di un’abitazione abbandonata a Gentilino, villa Ambrosetti, che dopo alcuni mesi sarà demolita. Unica regola che gli artisti dovranno rispettare sarà quella di dipingere soltanto negli orari di apertura della mostra. I momenti artistici si alterneranno a quelli musicali e gastronomici. Sabato dalle 18 alle 24 aperitivo con buffet offerto e domenica dalle 11 alle 14 brunch su prenotazione. >>>

Local Actions for Global Impact

The conference on Wednesday, 23 October, will bring together on Lugano Campus humanitarian aid experts from the most important agencies and associations worldwide. The seminar for professionals will be followed by a public evening conference with the title Local Actions for Global Impact, at 6 pm in the auditorium. Keynote addresses will be presented by ambassador Manuel Bessler (vice-director of the SDC, delegate for humanitarian aid and head of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit) and by Cornelia M. Lenneberg (regional vice president for the Middle East/Eastern Europe at World Vision International, WVI). The conference will be held in English with simultaneous translation in Italian. >>>

The fundamental Role of Education to Legality

On Friday, 25 October, at 6.30 pm, in the auditorium of Lugano Campus, Gherardo Colombo  will talk about his experience as a leading representative of the pool ‘Mani pulite’ (nationwide Italian judicial investigation into political corruption held in the 1990s in Italy) as well as about the specific difficulties in repressing corruption compared to other legal fields. He will also tackle issues related to the necessity of incentivizing the prevention of this phenomenon in the framework of an education to legality. The public evening is part of the conference Fighting Corruption in Switzerland and Italy: where are the Loopholes? which will be held on 25 and 26 October at USI. >>>

Memory’s Phantoms in Central and Eastern European Countries

Adam Michnik, a political dissident, historian, writer and university professor who was born in 1946, is also a leading journalist in his country and director of the first independent Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza since its foundation in 1989. As an activist for human rights, Michnik was imprisoned repeatedly between 1965 and 1986, and overall he spent 6 years of his life in jail because of his opposition towards the communist Polish regime. He will hold a public conference on Thursday, 24 October, at 7.30 pm in the Aula Magna of Mendrisio Campus (Canavée Building). >>>

The UXconference is the most important Swiss conference dedicated to User Experience, Business and Design. At its fifth edition on Saturday, 26 October, in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus, starting from 9 am leading design, industry and research experts will disclose the new frontiers of healthcare, presenting and discussing futuristic experiences that are already reality. >>>  

Inauguration of the exhibition District of the Southern Region of Ticino River

The exhibition presents the results of the homonymous research project PNR 65 of the Swiss National Science Foundation conducted by Prof. Michele Arnaboldi of the Academy of Architecture, in collaboration with the canton’s Territory Department. It illustrates the district’s potential and suggests possible development strategies of different scales for the public space. The inauguration will be held on Friday, 25 October, at 5.30 pm (Agricola Ticinese Building, Piazzale Stazione, Giubiasco) and it will also be an occasion to present the second volume of Atlante Città Ticino 2. Comprensorio Fiume Ticino Sud, edited by Michele Arnaboldi and published by Mendrisio Academy Press. The exhibition will be open until 24 November. >>>

Two Students create a Street Art Event that focuses on the Art of Memory

On Saturday, 26, and Sunday, 27 October, a group of street artists will work on commission inside an abandoned residence in Gentilino, villa Ambrosetti, which is going to be demolished a few months later. The only rule the artists have to follow is to paint only during the opening hours of the exhibition. Artistic contributions will mix with musical and gastronomic elements: on Saturday, an aperitif with buffet will be offered from 6 pm until midnight, whereas for Sunday, visitors can make reservations for a brunch, held from 11 am to 2 pm. >>>
