| FACULTY OF ECONOMICS | | 73 new Graduates hailing from 20 different Countries USI's Faculty of economics currently counts the highest number of students enrolled, over 1,000. During last week's ceremony 2 Bachelor's degrees, 69 two-year Master's and 2 Master of Advanced Studies were conferred. The ceremony has been the perfect opportunity to introduce all new graduates to the USI Alumni Association, founded in 2010 to maintain and cultivate relationships among our nearly 4,400 graduates. Names of graduates and group photos. | | ACADEMY OF ARCHITECTURE | | The City, a Work of Art The Architect Marco Romano (Milano, 1934) was a lecturer for the Faculty of Architecture in Genoa, Palermo, Milan and Venice, where he also directed from 1978 to 1982 the Department of Urban Planning of the University Institute of Architecture. From 2003 to 2005 he taught Aesthetics at USI's Academy of Architecture. He will hold a public lecture entitled The City, a Work of
Art as part of the series FINIS URBIS? European Cities and Globalisation on Thursday, 16 May at 8pm in the Aula Magna of Mendrisio Campus. More information. | | ERASMUS STUDENT MOBILITY FOR PLACEMENT GRANTS | | USI is the Swiss University with the most student mobility for internships During the past academic year, USI Career Service has awarded a total of 72 scholarships: 29 to students on Lugano Campus, 43 on Mendrisio Campus. To this day it has been possible to accommodate all requests (requirements).
A careful analysis of data gathered on Erasmus mobility, carried on by the Swiss Foundation for Confederal Cooperation comparing
results in different Swiss universities, shows that in the Academic year 2011-2012 USI has been the university which has obtained the greatest number of these scholarships. More information (pdf). | | MOBILITY | | The Success of the European Programme Erasmus carries on in Switzerland After more than 25 years, the success of the programme Erasmus is increasing every year. During the academic year 2011/12 more than 3,000 people studying or working in a Swiss University have benefited from an Erasmus exchange in 29 different European countries (10% more than the previous year). USI currently counts 60 exchange agreements with European universities, all coordinated by the International Relations and Study-Abroad Office. More information. | | CONTEST | | How do you picture the future? Share your story! STORY2023 is a transmedia
storytelling competition on different technological platforms. All students at Swiss universties are asked to imagine the future and write a story set in 10 years, in 2023. The contest is interdisciplinary and the prize will be a week in San Francisco. It will begin on 1 June and is organised by swissnex San Francisco on the occasion of the foundation's 10th anniversary. More information. | | SEEKING EXTRAS | | Affari di famiglia hits USI's hallways The Lugano Campus will turn into a TV set on the 19, 30, 31 May: scenes from the RSI fiction that tells the story of the Britti's family will be shot on location. The production is looking for students willing to take part in the shooting as extras (compensation: 60 CHF for half day,
