2013 IEEE CS TCSE Distinguished Education Award a Mehdi Jazayeri

Il premio è assegnato ogni anno a chi si distingue nella formazione in ingegneria del software e, insieme all'ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Education Award, è il riconoscimento più prestigioso nel settore. Il prof. Jazayeri è tra i pochi ad essere stato insignito di entrambi i premi. Jazayeri è stato premiato anche per l'impronta che, come primo Decano, ha dato alla Facoltà di scienze informatiche dell'USI, presa a modello in molte istituzioni internazionali.

Città sublimi: al via l'esposizione di Mimmo Jodice, tra i più grandi nomi della fotografia italiana

Fotografo di avanguardia fin dagli anni Sessanta, attento alle sperimentazioni ed alle possibilità espressive del linguaggio fotografico, è stato protagonista instancabile del dibattito culturale che ha portato all'affermazione della fotografia italiana in campo internazionale. Giovedì 2 maggio alle 19.00 alla Galleria dell'Accademia (Palazzo Canavée, campus di Mendrisio) si terrà l'inaugurazione della sua mostra, che potrà essere visitata fino al 9 giugno 2013.

Il premio Nobel per la pace Muhammad Yunus torna all'USI

L'intervento pubblico dell'inventore del microcredito bancario e del modello di social business si terrà mercoledì 15 maggio alle ore 18.00 nell'Aula magna del campus di Lugano (registrazione obbligatoria). La Social Business Conference, giunta alla seconda edizione, è una giornata interattiva organizzata da Social Business Earth in collaborazione con il CP Start-Up e l'Istituto di Management dell'USI con il sostegno della Città di Lugano e del Gruppo BSI. L'evento mira ad incoraggiare la collaborazione tra amministrazione pubblica, imprese private e fondazioni al fine di creare nuovi social business sostenibili per risolvere i problemi più urgenti della società.

Due seminari sul diritto d'autore nell'insegnamento

Nell'ambito del progetto DICE, l’eLab propone due seminari in lingua inglese: martedì 30 aprile (aula A24, ore 14.00: Copyright principles & methodology con il prof. Bertil Cottier e Anna Picco) e martedì 25 giugno (aula A13, ore 14.00: Discussing your copyright questions con il prof. Bertil Cottier e Marcello Baggi). I seminari presentano i principi di base del diritto d’autore svizzero, insieme a una metodologia per risolvere i casi con cui si è confrontati in ambito educativo. È richiesta l'iscrizione.

Strategie territoriali

Venerdì 3 maggio dalle 14.00 alle 18.00 in aula C.3.89 (campus di Mendrisio) Alessandro Balducci, Andreas Kipar, Roberto Stoppa e Michele Arnaboldi interverranno sul tema Strategie territoriali. La conferenza si inserisce in un ciclo aperto al pubblico sulla qualità dello spazio pubblico e sulla cultura del territorio, promosso dal progetto di ricerca del Fondo nazionale PNR65 condotto dal prof. architetto Michele Arnaboldi Spazio pubblico della Città Ticino di domani.

Vacanze scientifiche per bambini

Torna l'iniziativa rivolta ai bambini di 4a e 5a elementare proposta da L'Ideatorio dell'USI e dall'Istituto scolastico della Città di Lugano, in collaborazione con la Società ticinese di scienze naturali. La destinazione è Mascengo e il programma mescola divertimento e biologia, merende e natura, passeggiate e chimica. A colpi di piccole scoperte si entra nel mondo della scienza: dal regno dell'invisibile osservato al microscopio fino a quello immenso del cosmo.

2013 IEEE CS TCSE Distinguished Education Award to Mehdi Jazayeri

The recognition is presented annualy to those who distinguished themselves in the field of software engineering education. Together with ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Education Award, it is the highest acknowledgment in the field. Prof. Jazayeri is among the few to have received both honours. The Professor has also been awarded for the mark he left to USI's Faculty of Informatics as its first Dean. A Faculty which has been taken as a role model in many International Institutions.

Sublime Cities: the new exhibition by Mimmo Jodice, one of the biggest names in Italian photography, gets underway 

Photographer since the sixities avant-guard, experimental with a careful eye on the different expressions of photography, he has been the tireless key player of the cultural debate, that has led to the international success of Italian photography. The opening will be held on Thursday, 2 May at 7pm at the Academy's Gallery (Canavée Building, Mendrisio Campus), and the exhibit will be open until 9 June 2013.

The Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus back at USI

The public lecture held by the inventor of the microcredit and social business will be held on 15 May at 6pm in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus (registration is required). The second Social Business Conference, is an interactive day organised by the Social Business Earth in cooperation with CP Start-up and USI's Institute of Management, with the support of the City of Lugano and the BSI Group. The event aims at promoting cooperation among public administration, private businesses and foundations, in order to design new sustainable social businesses to solve society's most urgent problems.

Two Seminars on Copyright in Education

In the framework of the project DICE the e-lab offers two seminars in English: on Tuesday, 30 April (Room A24, at 2pm: Copyright principles & methodology with prof. Bertil Cottier and Anna Picco) and on Tuesday, 25 June (room A13, 2pm: Discussing your copyright questions with prof. Bertil Cottier and Marcello Baggi). The seminars will introduce the basic principles of Swiss Copyrights and provide tools to solve practical cases in the field of education. Registration required.

Local Strategies

Alessandro Balducci, Andreas Kipar, Roberto Stoppa and Michele Arnaboldi will tackle issues on the theme Local Strategies on Friday, 3 May from 2pm to 6pm in room C.3.89 (Mendrisio Campus). The lecture is part of the series of public lectures promoted by the research project PNR65 Public Spaces in the Città Ticino of the future of the Swiss National Science Foundation conducted by Professor and Architect Michele Arnaboldi. A series about issues such as quality of the public space and culture of the territory.

Science Holidays for Children

The initiative aimed at fourth and fifth graders promoted by USI's Ideatorio and the Educational Institute City of Lugano, in cooperation with the Society of Natural Science of Ticino is back. The destination is Mascengo and the programme is the perfect blend of fun, biology, snacks, nature, hikes and chemistry. The world of science unfolds thanks to small discoveries: from the realm of the invisible observed at the microscope to the limitless cosmos.
