| | ANNIVERSARY Celebrating IRB's 10 years of activity and recent affiliation with USI at the Teatro Sociale in Bellinzona The Institute for Research in Biomedicine launched its activities in 2000 with the goal of improving the understanding of human immunology. In this past decade, IRB has grown
from 20 to more than 80 people, and last April, the Gran Consiglio of Ticino approved the affiliation with our University. Friday at 5pm, a ceremony to celebrate these milestones will take place at the Teatro Sociale in Bellinzona. Participants will include Giorgio Noseda (President, IRB), Antonio Lanzavecchia (Director, IRB), Brenno Martignoni (Mayor of Bellinzona), Gabriele Gendotti (Consigliere di Stato), Piero Martinoli (President, USI) and Mauro Dell'Ambrogio (State Secretary for

| | A LONG LINE OF STARS FLOCKS TO THE ACADEMY
Contemporary Production Design: Cinecittà's “second school” A series of public talks by Marco Müller,
featuring some of
the most celebrated Italian production designers, starts soon. The speakers will share their own experiences, engaging in conversation with Müller and responding to participants' questions. The talks will be complemented by screenings of clips from the films in discussion. Kicking off the events, the featured speaker will be Marco Dentici (Thursday, Nov. 4), followed by Andrea Crisanti (Thursday, Nov. 11), both production designers. The series continues with Marco Bellocchio, director, screenwriter and producer, and Francesca Calvelli, editor (Monday, Dec. 6). The series concludes with Oscar winner Dante Ferretti, production designer, accompanied by Francesca Lo Schiavo, set decorator, on Thursday, Dec.

November 5, at 2pm in Auditorium (Lugano Campus) the notable writer and traveller Paolo Rumiz will hold an introductory talk entitled, "The impressions of an Italian world traveller". A round table led by journalist Michele Fazioli will follow, with participation from Mira Mocam, lecturer at our Institute of Italian Studies, as well as various guests from around the world.
